Every time I use them or see them used I live with the constant worry of a horse taking a really deep stretch and then being silly and having a front leg hook a rope resulting in a flip or damaged mouth. I’m thinking about an instance where the horse really drops the nose to the knee level for a few strides resulting in the ropes being very loose. Sending a horse forward is always an option but if a horse has been inverted or tight, I want to give them mental space for a few steps to enjoy the feeling of the inverse, even if it is lower than how they will travel most of the time.
Are there any after market add ons that don’t interfere with use but keep a horse safe? Ideally a horse is focused and not silly but they are horses and if COTH has taught me anything over the years, it is to be prepared for the worst and most bizarre freak accidents possible.
