Our house has two kids and a VERY pregnant woman living in it. We just started to notice the dogs itching and treated them, and when we packed to go out of town the SO noticed a flea on him. Is there anything safe to spray or bomb the house with?
I’ve used this spray:

you can spray it on your dogs too. Also vaccuum a lot and empty the bag outside after. Wash anything you can in hot water.
Diatomaceous earth powder. Sprinkle all over carpet, pets, furniture. Brush in, vacuum off if you like. 100% safe- you can eat it. Very cheap- buy at feed store.
You have to re-treat the house about every two weeks, or the flea eggs will hatch, and the fleas will be back. I would get a professional for this, considering the exposure risk.
Mycodex spray: http://www.vpl.com/index.php/products?page=shop.product_details&flypage=vpl_product_detail.tpl&product_id=75&category_id=5
You only have to keep your pets off of it until it’s dry - it’s aerosol and dried within minutes. It doesn’t smell very chemically, but most importantly…it WORKED. It kills the live fleas and destroys the eggs, plus the bottle claims it is effective for 200+ days.
I have 4 cats and 2 big dogs - so what I did is this. I vacuumed my bedroom quite thoroughly, and stripped down all the bedding - removed it and started washing it all. I then sprayed down the carpet and curtains in my bedroom with Mycodex, and closed the door to keep everyone out. Opened the windows and turned on the fan in there, just in case. Then, several hours later, I vacuumed thoroughly again. Then, I locked the 4 cats in there, put the dogs out in the back yard, vacuumed and sprayed down the rest of the carpeted areas of the house. I took the dogs on a good hike for about an hour, came back and vacuumed - then let the cats out of my bedroom. That stuff works and works well. One can will treat 500 sq feet.
Fleabusters. I paid $277 for application inside and out. There is a year guarantee for the inside of the house.
You can do it yourself very easily and much less expensively. Amazon has the powder for about $20 a can (half the price of the website). You need a hand bellows to fill under the baseboards and a stiff brush to rub into carpet.
The good reviews on amazon.com is what pursuaded me to go for it. We are still in the middle of “additional flea activity for 2-5 weeks” but most of the ones I comb off the cats are d-e-d DEAD, so I’m very hopeful.
