Safety stirrups that don't cost $300?

Thanks. Will do.
I just found the manufacturers’ assembly and operation pdf. Looks genius.

FYI these weren’t dressage legal the last time I checked. Dressage stirrups must be completely enclosed (which is why I’m not allowed to use my beloved free jumps either :sob:). That’s to say nothing of the magnetic part probably not being allowed.

Thank you for finding these. I’m going to put these on my other saddle vs buying a new pair of stirrups.

Tech Stirrups. I saw them at Thermal CA and really liked them. https://www.farmhousetack.com/products/tech-siena-stirrups?variant=35658416324757&currency=USD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADzP0KNAezdT4mJmxx_UjGpHhuL9E&gclid=Cj0KCQjw3vO3BhCqARIsAEWblcCOQ8Rs90qipJ4l6SRCHQSryBN3paxp_eoSTxEC3jXnh7FFSCg15WEaAuhoEALw_wcB

I love my Tech stirrups, but they are $$$. I need a pair for my dressage saddle. IM thinking of trying the Lavarone Stirrup. thanks for that

I have a pair of these in blue I ordered but the way my foot sits in the stirrup, I hit the magnet all the time and just heard “clack clack clack”
Would send to someone for cost of shipping if anyone wants to try them… they’re moonlighting as home decor right now (aka haven’t moved off the table I put them down on)

I like my Le Mieux ones quite a bit. They seem to be very affordable ($-150) at Old Mill. I bought pairs (2!) from an EU online shop, either Hypostore or Redpost for about the same price as Old Mill. The stirrups feel great and look very discrete. AFAIK they should be legal.

I ride in MDC irons; I have the bent top ones and the ones that click into different angles. I like the s-top for daily riding because I don’t have to click it every time. I’ve come off multiple times in these irons with no problem releasing my foot, as well as the irons stay forward facing to catch an iron if I drop it while riding.
You can read about their safety stirrup philosophy here: https://mdcstirrups.com/pdf/stirrup_safety.pdf

I got both my pairs used for under $200 each; one through eBay, one on Facebook. If you buy new, they sell very fast second hand so you should be able to get your money out of them if they don’t work out.

I never had a steward question these  BUT, you need traditional Fillis-type stirrups for them. The fancy topped ones that have more metal around the holes will not work.

My horse is older and mostly reasonable now, and I’m older, so I use wide web stirrups on the regular and have my clips on another pair of stirrups and leathers for hacking and outings.

One more note, you must make sure you have them turned the correct way on your foot at all times. They will not work if you accidentally put them on backwards.

I used the peacock stirrups even as an adult and never had an issue with them. You just have to watch the bands because they do wear out eventually and need to be replaced. I want to say mine lasted at least a year though but that was a long time ago. I second the person who mentioned the stirrups with the bent or movable top. I have a pair of HDC ones that you can adjust the angle on. They are not break away ones but are designed so the foot doesn’t get trapped.

You could buy these Tech ones from a kidfluencer for a mere $390 USD ($600 AUD).

I’ve dubbed out the influencer’s name as she is only a kid; not her fault she’s being used as a cash cow. (I actually think she’s a nice kid, just her vlogs and lifestyle have become so out of touch with reality).

Four hunjies. But blingy! :joy:

Do you remember the brand of S-curve you have and where you got them from?

I bought them new at a tack shop in Maine.
I’ll look for a stamp/label this afternoon and get back to you.

This is what I love about S curve type stirrups, too. They’re so easy to pick up.

…and maybe because they’re a little heavy, I don’t lose them often, despite riding with a longish leg.

I rarely lose my stirrups, too, but knowing that they’re not going anywhere is another piece of peace of mind. I tried lightweight composite stirrups once, couldn’t wait to sell them on.

Pfft. Fractured afternoon/evening at the ranch.
Never even got close to my saddle. Will do better tomorrow.
I’m sorry.

Finally got to the barn, rode, AND remembered to look at my stirrups.

Unfortunately, they are at least 10 years old, apparently made in the last days of no-logos, and I see no identifying mark of any kind. Because I initially bought them for my giant then-teenage son, they are five inches wide at minimum and that works for me, despite my non-giantness.

In a quick search, I see Shires and an Australian company making them now and the largest size (Shires) is 5", so I suspect mine are Shires. Here’s a link to the company in Oz. (I buy directly from companies whenever I can because Amazon is the devil.)

Thanks for letting me know! I’ll probably have to get them from Amazon :grimacing: My options for those in Ontario is very limited unfortunately.

I like those safety stirrups!
