Sale horse prices:

Everyone seems to be talking about the really nice, well trained horses being hard to find and the latest horse sales, when it comes to ranch and trail riding horses, seem to bear that.

Look at these prices:

What people need to realize is that these are broke, broke, broke horses with the most current popular bloodlines, great confirmation and COLOR! There is a pretty big jump from the higher dollar horses to the ones that went for the lower teens.

I spent $5K almost 12 years ago for my using horse who is an own son of Holidoc, is a dun with all the characteristics and is broke, broke, broke. People thought I was nuts, but he is my go to horse for just about everything and I don’t regret spending a penny on him!

WYO Horses has two good sales a year and their prices are available on the web site- some really high prices, but some bargains, too. I’d say there are a fair number of ranch sales, not yet ‘discovered,’ that still have reasonable prices for a good ranch horse. Including the $5k range in today’s dollars, so relatively less than what cutter99 paid.

Did anyone else notice that in the pics of the top sellers, it would appear that some people purchased more than one horse? They are pictured multiple times with different horses. I’m assuming the people posing with the horse are the buyers?

Gorgeous horses. Those kinds of sales are really fun to attend.

some of the offers we turned down for one Morgan mare that could show show herself as she was on voice commands were scary

It said many were bought sight unseen so I don’t think those are the buyers.

True, phone bids are often possible and on some sites they take note of repeat customers.

What does “own son” mean? That it was live cover?

‘Own son of’ is just another way of explaining who the sire is. Secretariat was sired by Bold Ruler, was therefore an ‘own son’ of Bold Ruler.
