Samshield helmet falling apart?
Anyone else experience their 650 dollar helmet shedding it’s “chrome” finish? Now I just have exposed white plastic. Would love to know if this happens regularly or if it’s just mine? I only use it at horse shows and never in the rain.
Anyone get a replacement from Samshield?
Mine did this, probably 5 years ago. I emailed Samshield and they sent me an entirely new helmet, I guess at the time some of the chrome finish was coming off. Not sure if this is still the case, but they were very good about it before. They asked that I send my old helmet in so they could take a look at it, but not until after I got the new one so I wasn’t without a helmet. There was no cost to me, but again this was 5 or 6 years ago.
Great! I bought this one some time ago and didn’t like it until I got a new liner for it so it’s probably the same age as the one you mention, but with only a couple years wear. I’ll contact them and hope for the best!
I read a post of someone in the UK who had a similar issue with their Samshield helmet. She wrote hers was less than two years old and posted a few clear photos of the problem. I don’t recall the model but it was a more expensive version with sparkles on top.
It appeared to me like the thick plastic coating over the metal vent dividers was peeling off, leaving it plain black rather than a metallic metal color.
Really that plastic coated helmet trim looks very cheaply made. Paint would be better than plastic!! Think that her Samshield helmet version sells for over $700 here. What a rip off.
