just got my first samshield (formerly riding in CO) and ordered a 7 1/8 M… it’s just a tad tight and i need to size up, but am just a bit confused with their sizing options - do i need to order a 7 1/4 M or step up to the large shell size? (which doesn’t have the same sizes) - we did measure the diameter of my head
A 7 1/4 can be a M or a L. If you need just a tad more room, I’d just get the 7 1/4 M liner. For real-life reference, I’m a 7 1/4 in virtually every helmet, but a 7 1/4M liner in a Samshield medium shell is a bit tight on me; I need a 7 1/4L liner in the large shell.
so are you saying keep the shell of the 7 1/8 and get a liner in the size of 7 1/4? i wasn’t aware that the liners were interchangeable … I did a quick search, but I guess I didn’t look hard enough
Are you sure the shape of your head fits the smasheild helmet?
8 years ago I retired my CO and soooo wanted a samsheild (for trendy purposes I’ll admit). I could not find a comfortable fit in the samsheild.
I found that it was to tight it was pinching, but the next size up I had gaping issues. Really opened my eyes to the world of helmet fitting
I am definitely more of a CO type fit, and I can wear the new 2.0 Samshields and find them comfortable. I got the same size as I would in CO which is 57cm, and I have the medium shell. I am 56 typically in other brands like KEP or Kask. I could fit into the 56 Samshield but it was a bit too tight. However, the Samshield size conversion to inches didn’t match anything else I’ve had (I think theirs is marked much larger on the conversion chart).
There’s also two different styles of liner (I have 1.0 Samshields and am assuming this still stands for generation 2.0). I have an oval, “five head” sigh so use the Premium liner.
