Samshield Shadow Matt

I love this helmet. Fits great, looks great. Exactly what I am looking for. It is between the shadow matt & the premium. Unfortunately there is a huge price difference. I would rather spend less, but I personally dislike the grey color the shadow matt has.

I was at PA National and I saw many riders who have the shadow matt, but it was darker and shiner.

Question- what do they put on it?

I was thinking along the lines as some type of polish? Maybe armor all? If I can figure out what they use on it, I would be more likely to pick the one which is cheaper and would greatly appreciate the extra cash in my pocket.

Thanks!

I have this helmet.

It’s black. I get compliments every time I wear it.

This is what I have as well. I get compliments constantly as well. I’d say it’s black in most light and only slightly grey in others. I never look at it and think it looks grey though, and no one else does either.

That is the one I am referring to. I agree, it is black but the “matte” color to it makes it lighter. I just was wondering if anyone has put anything on their helmet to and what they did.

I’ve never heard of anyone who has put anything on their helmet to make it darker.

Whatever you decide, be careful! The two helmets do not fit the same.

I have the Matte and I had to get a size larger or smaller, can’t remember. Try it on before you buy it.

By the way, I LOVE the helmet. Mine’s blue.

The helmets probably looked darker at Harrisburg because of the lighting. Outside they may look lighter because of sun, but I don’t think anyone puts stuff on the matte version, although people re-dye the premium version all the time as the suede material fades quickly.

I wouldn’t put any polish on it- even well done it would be quite noticeable. The shadow mattes are very common and acceptable in all rings, even if it does look lighter than other helmets.

I also have it and get compliments. I probably should have taken better care if it because I scratched it up but no one seems to notice.

I did even worse… mine bubbled because I stood under a heat lamp at an IEA show… but no one notices it and it’s the best helmet I’ve ever had and I love it.

Mine appears a true matte black in all the photos I have with it on.

I have the shadow matt and the alcantra premium. I like the shadow matt more (I bought the shadow matt for schooling, but now show in it); I think it looks classier FWIW. I don’t know anyone who puts something to make their helmets look darker…LOVE it.

Oh–and the liners do fit much differently. I like the premium liner and have one for each helmet. You can use either liner in both helmets–but there’s a significant size different. I am a 7 in the premium liner and 7 1/4 in the shadow matt liner.

I have the Shadow Matte and never once has it occurred to me that it is not dark enough. And I have plenty of photos with me wearing it and it looks black in them all. I love the way it fits.

I didn’t think it was grey? I have that model and it’s black, even at noon in summer without a cloud in the sky.

I guess it was the lighting that I was looking at it in the store vs. Harrisburg. Thank you all
