Samshield Show Coats

Good morning all,
I currently own an RJ Classics mesh show coat (the melody 4 button coat for reference) in a ladies size 10. I also had a harmony coat in the same size. I am looking at the sale Samshield show coats through Farm House Tack (namely the Alix and the Florida). I am on the fence about whether I would need a 12 or a 14. From what I have read, the Samshield sizing runs a bit smaller than say RJ classics or American sizing.

Thank you for any assistance.

If you are a 10 US, youd be a 40 in French.
12 / 42
14 / 44

But yes Samshield does usually run a little different. It might be safe to size up to a 12.
Honestly - it’s going to depend on your build, which is the hardest part about online shopping European show coats.
I had some clients match size to size, and I had others that needed to size up due to bust or length.

I ordered a for horses coat in a size large from The Tried Equestrian over the summer and it fit everywhere except the bottom button area. The front had a gap in it due to my personal tendency to carry extra weight in my midsection and love handles. Which is the same reason that the AA mesh coat don’t fit me. I was going to exchange the for horses for a Samshield Alix in and FR 42. The measurements were almost identical between the FH large and the Samshield 42. All that said, I think I may have just answered my own question.

I’m a size 10 in RJ and find the Alix in sz 42 (12) fits perfectly.

For comparison–I’m a 32DDD 29" waist with broad shoulders. I have one Samshield Alix coat in a 44, and I had to have the arms taken up and the waist taken in. I also had the shoulder pads removed. The 42 fits as close to perfect off-the-rack as it gets for me.

There’s some give with them, but they can be a bit tighter across the chest, so when in doubt, go bigger and get it tailored.
