Saratoga - Early morning workouts?

I recently moved to Western MA and am now within easy driving distance of Saratoga. I definitely plan on heading up once their racing season has started, and have been once before - I did the breakfast/tour, etc.

Does anyone know if the public is permitted to view the early morning workouts? The website only lists the breakfast, which starts at 7:00, as an option, but I would love to be there earlier, as the sun comes up. Is 7:00 the earliest the public can get in?

Thank you!

I don’t know how early it’s open but I’m told that they have opened up a section at the top of the stretch area on the Oklahoma Training Track to the public. Not sure about getting in the clubhouse before breakfast, but it couldn’t hurt to try.

You can get in before 7/before the sun comes up and you can be on the apron at the rail of the main track.

I highly recommend it. Lot’s of fun! Especially if you can stay away from that lady with the microphone . (Sort of kidding, but she does get pretty annoying sometimes).

Oh excellent! Thank you! I just don’t want to make the drive super early and then be turned away and have nothing to do for a few hours. I’m a big fan of racing, but have never had the chance to see things in-person before now, as you can tell! How would I access the apron of the track - through the main gates, or is there another way? Thanks so much! Can’t wait to give it a shot and put my camera to work!

Go early. Bring your McBreakfast. Sit in MArylou Whitney’s box. (I really enjoy the lady with the microphone.) Take the tour. Run away from the tour and watch the gate training. Go across the street and watch the horses swim. Watch the standardbreds train, and maybe some polo ponies. Go to the Racing Museum. Go to the races. Get ice cream at Mann’s…

This makes a great birthday party for horse crazy girls of any age.
