I have scribed a LOT, but not the FEI. I will be scribing for a friend in the “S” program and want to practice. ANyone have a link to tests with judge comments I can practice on? I cannot find any (and I am not a member of DTOL) TIA
Are you looking for practice just to see if you can keep up, or do you specifically want to get the flow of the FEI tests? If just to keep up, honestly, if you can scribe through the OLD 2nd-3 and 4th-3, you can do FEI. If you search for “judged prix st. George” or something like that, you’ll get some hits. Here is an example.

Last month, I spent almost a half day just scribing PSG (we had a few other FEI tests as well), and it felt like a vacay after 4th 3:lol:
Try YouTube as suggested by another poster
I have scribed for both lower levels at local shows and FEI at DaD. I found that the judges give less comments at FEI than at the lower levels.
agree with pluvinel, there tend to be few comments on FEI level tests. back in the day there were boxes barely big enough to write one word
If you are scribe for the judging program you will have more writing and most likely you will be underlining too. Thank you for scribing for your friend. Familiarize yourself with the tests and you can follow along with last years National Finals on both youtube and the USEF network. to help your friend the best you can. Anything less then a 6/6.5 you will most likely have a comment and/or underline somewhere in that box. They also like to highlight things that could have bumped the score up to the next point or half point.
Yep, I agree - more comments then normal because it IS a testing program.
LOL I am moving up to PSG this year (gulp) and it feels like a vacay after 4-3!!!
I am just looking to get the flow of the tests. I have scribed for many L candidates, “r”, and “R” candidates, including apprentice sessions and testing sessions. (and yes every one I scribed for passed… ) I scribed for the examiner at the L program testing at Region 3 CH this year.
ANd of course I did search you tube.
MOR, I saw that BIll Woods video and used it. But it was the only one I found.
ANd JRG thanks for the idea of the Nationals . I will look for them.
Yes - look at videos of the nationals. The biggest problem comes in the piaffe/passage tours. This is new to the candidates, the scores come quickly, and they want to say a lot! For example - transition to passage - score, piaffe- score, transitions in and out - score, passage - score, transition to canter - score in a GP test. And passage - score, piaffe - score, transitions -score, passage- score, walk- score. Those happen in at most a 30 second interval and there will be words attached to all.
The candidate doesn’t want to get behind. A green scribe cannot be asking ‘what movement is it’ in the middle. You should be familiar at least with those pieces of GP, I2, IA and IB and the Special.
When does the class start? Usually, scribes aren’t needed a lot in the training session. More so in the apprenticing and testing.
One thing g you and your candidate can do is set up a chance with a local trainer to judge them or students as they ride through. Or find online vid of judges pov and practice. More for pacing ratber than comment quality
Thanks all. The last time I scribed for her we did just that - practiced the day before the training started to get the flow down. She has judged these classes at schooling shows, so it’s not new to her. And those online vids? Looking for those is what started this thread…
