Which do you find you get more use from, a scrim or an Irish knit? I have an opportunity to buy one of each, both super quality and very well priced. I’m trying to be responsible and choose only the one I’ll use more often, as I don’t really need either one! If it helps, I have a very nice wool cooler already, a Baker sheet and the usual assortment of every-day blankets for the horse that will wear the new sheet.
I’d go with the Irish knit. I love mine and use it all of the time
I find Irish knits more useful - especially under a cooler to cool out a hot horse in winter.
Another vote for Irish knit. Scrims are great for shows when you need to keep the flies away. But Irish knits have a lot more utility.
I have both for my horse. They are both nice, but I prefer the scrim. I use it to trailer and show in warm weather. Keeps my horse cool and comfortable and helps dry sweat more quickly than the Irish knit. The scrim also keeps its shape better. In colder weather, I tend to use her fleece cooler, so I find I don’t get much use out of the Irish knit.
I have both, but I definitely use my Irish Knit more. It’s useful in everyday around the barn situations particularly in those in between seasons when it’s cool but not really cold enough for a fleece or wool. I like having a scrim for Summer shows, but don’t really use it otherwise
Thanks everyone!
