Sealing a Leaking Trailer Roof

I recently purchased a 1999 aluminum gooseneck in excellent shape, reputable make, etc. However, the roof leaks considerably along the edges of each aluminum sheet. What product is best for sealing it?

My trailer roof is made with a single aluminum sheet. It is fastened to the edges with rivets. Originally it was sealed with urethane caulk. A good product but after a few years, the caulk seal leaks at the rivets and seam. Two years ago, I used a tape product called Eternabond. It applied easily and neatly… unlike caulk. I recommend it.

You must first remove all the previous sealant to clean metal. I found a wire cup brush in a hand grinder to be the best tool.

How about flexshot…

My trailer’s roof seal began to deteriorate and I had the dealership replace it. They did have to remove all the old sealant to properly redo it.

I had my steel trailer roof that had some leaking on seams repainted with a product that is similar to the Rhino lining for a truck bed. I had that done 6 years ago, and so far, so good.
