Searching for a Horse Farm Online

When searching for a horse farm online, what search words do you use? Do you put in the town you’re searching in like Middleburg Horse Properties? Or a broader search like Florida Horse properties? New York horse properties? Or by the county? What if you are looking in multiple areas?

Trying to do a little off beat keyword brainstorming… my old keyword planning tool is a pain to use anymore so thought I’d ask COTH…

TIA

LOL–well, I found our farm on Craigslist. We moved from Pennsylvania to Kentucky last year. So I would say go to the area of the country you are looking for and look through the Craigslist real estate section for that. Craigslist had a combination of FSBO places and realtor listed homes.

I also looked at Realtor.com and zillow.com. Other sites I looked at were homes.com and trulia.com. You can put in what area you are looking for (specific town/city and however many miles around that area). Those sites are mostly realtor listed properties.

For more FSBO listings, I would google newspaper and whatever town/city/state/county I wanted to look in. I didn’t just google it.

If you do Facebook, try searching for the town/city/county and homes for sale. You might have to sort through houses vs. farms.

Good luck with your search!

I’m not looking for a farm…I’m looking to find out what search terms people use when they are searching for a farm. sorry if that was not clear.

Oh. Oops. It wasn’t clear to me anyway. :o

Well, in a round about way, I guess, I still answered. LOL I didn’t use any search terms when I searched.

I would search on acreage since it is hard to have a farm without land.

I have used the word “barn” and I search sites which allow me to put in minimum acres. That pretty much gives me the basic properties I want in a certain area. I can weed through them from there.

I’ve only ever searched for property on realtor.com. They have an “acreage” drop-down box in the search filters, which is what I rely on to identify farms.

Horse
farm
barn
stalls
acres (The ability to say at least 5 acres and maybe a price range)
County and State (most people need to supplement their income so they need to know of there are jobs in the area of the “farm”

Of course there are also other questions -
like do you expect a house on the farm?
Is the barn more of a shed versus a full fledged (enclosed) barn?
Is the barn built up (or does it flood when wet)?
etc…
