Seating question...seats with backs or bleacher????

Hi! Does anyone happen to know if section B-220 row R of the outdoor stadium has seating with backs or is it metal bleacher seating? I think I heard there were both, but I am unsure at what section/row the chairs stop and the bleachers begin.

Thanks!!!

I’d like to know this too. Not gonna be too happy about paying top dollar for good seats that are bleachers.

Very good question!!

I don’t know the answer but the construction pictures on the WEG’s site makes it look like metal bleachers. I too will be very disappointed to have paid extra for the “A” level tickets if I’m sitting on metal bleachers with no backs. Which brings to mind another question: the list of prohibited items says folding chairs are ok except in the competition venues - I wonder if stadium seats will be allowed (you know, those things you put on bleacher seats that have a foam seat and back) if there are no backs on the seats?

I wish someone from WEG was reading these questions so they could provide answers.

You can email info@feigames2010.org with questions. I’ve done it twice so far with things I was confused by or couldn’t find mentioned online, and I’ve gotten a reply both times within a day or so that did directly answer my question.

I agree TLW

I too bought my tickets via Ticketmaster on the first day of them going on sale. Ticketmaster was supposedly giving us “best available seating.” I paid top dollar and am sitting in the bleachers at the far ends of the stadium. Ticketmaster wouldn’t let us pick tickets in the permanent seating, we had to take what was given. And yes, it is my understanding that the seats are metal bleachers with no backs. And, of course, no cover in case of rain. What did one have to do to get in the permanent seating portion?

The same thing happened to me at the LA Olympics in 1984. Paid top dollar for tickets as soon as the tickets went on sale. I was given tickets in the bleachers (no seat backs) with no shelter. I remember it was about 100 degrees in Arcadia that week. I drove with several other friends who bought tickets a few weeks before the games started and they were given seats in the permanent seating section with individual numbered seats (with backs) and completely under the roof so they didn’t have to worry about sunstroke.

I guess the ticket sellers figure to sell the crappy seats first to the early buyers as it is alweays easier to sell the better quality seats at a later date.

Thanks to the link provided by Dressagetraks, I asked the folks at WEG about “A” level seats in the main stadium (sections B117/118 and C113) and was told that “A” seats had backs. We’ll see, but the news is encouraging.

I went back to the Ticketmaster site, and it says this about Friday’s dressage freestyle:

Seats in top price level have backs; less expensive seats do not.

I also have tickets to eventing stadium, but can’t really tell which ones have backs and which ones don’t.

I got an email from the info email address above saying that stadium seats would be allowed. “A” price tickets have backs. Not sure if “A” and “B” pricing apply to the section numbers or not though.

I received an equivalent email that said yes to the stadium seats and that higher priced seats (in my case the $147 freestyle tickets) should (note the lack of the word would) have backs.

I likely will not do the stadium seats no matter what, as I hate getting stuck next them as it amplifies my claustrophobia, so I don’t like to do it to others. I also don’t find them all that comfortable. I’ll likely just do a seat pad thing.

lindasp62 - How funny…I’m in Sec B220, Row R! Anyways, I was wondering the same question about seating as you.

MelantheLLC - Thanks for the info about bringing stadium seats…(I use those at NFL games).

To me, I don’t think it matters what section you are in, just the price of your tickets. My Sec B220 seats were under the “Price A” category.

I contacted the email address as posted above. I asked specifically about seciton B220, row R, and was told “bleachers”. Then I wrote back and asked why did I pay top dollar, the same as those with nice “seats” (an undercover, mind you), and they wrote back saying all the higher priced seating have backs. :confused:confusion!

Well, if anyone is down there and happen to notice, can you please post? Section B220 is the seating by the lake, middle of the seating.
Or, just a general overview?

Many thanks!!!

B 220 is lake side, not under cover, I think the backs stopped at Z. We have LL seats and moved down into the seats with backs, as there was no one around. Bring an extra poncho to sit on, b/c it rained all day (Monday) and they are wet. We brought rain pants with us and wore them!! And waterproof boots!

B 219 N Here

That’s where I sat for the opening ceremonies and the seats were bleachers, but they had backs (sheet metal running across similar to seats).

Thanks, yes I watched live on FEI-TV and saw that they were bleachers with backs! That will help me decide which soft seating apparatus to bring to make it more comfortable.
