Second sarcoid?

Recently I noticed a small bump the size of a fat tick on my horse’s belly. Unfortunately it is not a tick. I suspect it is a baby sarcoid.

Over a year ago we treated a sarcoid he had in a similar area, bigger than a quarter, by getting it off with a sort of tourniquet and then treating the rest with immiquimod, which, though not pretty during the process, did an amazing job and you wouldn’t even notice anything was ever there.

Has anyone out there had a similar situation where a new sarcoid appeared - did you wait until it got bigger, hoping it would be a very slow process - or did you treat immediately on noticing anything?

The last time I more or less introduced the vet to immiquimod (thanks to this forum!) so I would love to get some feedback from here before calling the vet in.

Ive had really good luck with Hilton Herbs VireX, at the recommendation of my vet. it’s a cream you put on 1-2 times daily. I bought it on Amazon. My gelding had 2 quarter sized sarcoids on his sheath, and because of the location I was really hesitant to do anything too extreme. This cleared it up pretty quickly. I think I used two tubes of it overall, very generously applying 2x a day. It started peeling, shrinking, and then basically fell off. I treated until it was completely gone. If the sarcoid seemed too irritated I left it alone for a day or two before reapplying, but 3 years later it’s completely gone and hasn’t come back.

To me, if it was a small spot not really bothering them, I would start with this before anything else.

Thanks, haven’t heard of that… seems worth a try at this early stage!

my mare had a largeish (about the size of the last joint of my pinkie) sarcoid when i purchased her. at the recommendation of someone else in my barn who had a horse with several sarcoids, i put her on equinety xl (amino acids). it literally shriveled up and fell off; this was 4 years ago and no sign of another since.
