Secret Santa 2024!

Ho Ho Ho! It’s the merriest time of year, time for the annual COTH Secret Santa! The reindeer have been chowing down on their magic hay and are ready to fly! So if you want to join in the fun this year, please read on!

To sign up, please PM me with the following information by Sunday, Nov. 24th:

  1. Your COTH username
  2. Your actual full name
  3. Your full postal/mailing address
  4. Your email address
  5. A description of yourself - the more detailed, the better! Be sure to include what kind of riding you do if any, what other animals/hobbies you have, your sizes if you’re interested in getting clothes, your horse’s sizes if you would like horse clothes/tack items, your favorite colors and styles, food allergies/restrictions, likes and dislikes, what is on your wishlist, and what you don’t want/need. Basically all your holiday wishes and dreams…
  6. Are you willing to ship overseas/to Canada?
  7. Please also mention if you’d volunteer to de-Grinch. That means you will step up to the plate if a SS recipient never received a gift or never received communication from their elf.
  8. Also, if anyone would be willing to be my not-so-secret santa, please let me know!

Please be sure to PM me by Sunday, Nov. 24th to be paired up in time. Your PM to me is your official entry, not just a comment on this thread.

I will PM you the username, mailing address, and description of your giftee, so check your PMs starting the week of Nov. 25th! You are strongly encouraged (although not required) to create an elf alter username to ask questions, hint, or otherwise tease your giftee! You can make an “elf account” using a different email address than your main username. If you’re not sure how this works, just ask here and a seasoned elf can help explain how!

The gift price limit is $35 before shipping. Please be sure to get your gift in the mail by Dec. 9th at the latest to be sure it arrives before the big day. If something comes up and you are not able to send a gift in time, please PM me, and we can work something out. Life happens, no sweat!

Most lastly, @Moderator_1, can you please pin this thread?

Thank you @Moderator_1, and thanks to everyone in advance who participates and keeps this tradition going! Thank you to previous year’s organizers whose ideas and words I plagiarized here: @ChocoMare, @JBCool, and @J-Lu. Also thanks to our greatest Elf Cheerleader @Paint_Party !!!

I have probably forgotten something. Please chime in if I did!

Happy Elfing :santa: :christmas_tree:

Thank you @applelover for taking this on and keeping the tradition going. I have done the COTH SS for many years, and so love to search for the perfect gifts for fellow forum members. I will send my PM soon, today I’m celebrating my birthday .

Happy birthday!

A very happy birthday to you!!

I think I will be back for this, this year. It’ll be my first Christmas without my mom and with my dad going into assisted living. I’m kind of dreading this whole holiday (and it’s my favorite time of year!) so this will give me something to look forward to

I hope your birthday was joyous!

I sympathize. When I was younger I never quite understood how some people could feel so melancholy during the holidays. But now I do.

I don’t think I’ll ever adjust to being without family during the holidays. But the COTH SS is one way of still participating and remembering what it was that made this time of year so special. Hope it brings you some happiness, too!

Thank you for the birthday greetings! I worked all day but did get to eat Cheesecake Factory cheesecake in the evening, so it was nice. @applelover, I sent the pm. Now I look forward to seeing who I get to spoil this year.

I understand. My family loves Christmas but I moved to the US (from the UK) many years ago, and only get to celebrate with them via Skype most years. Plus my husband is not into the holidays, so it can feel very lonely. That’s one reason I started doing the COTH SS, so I could spread the joy another way.
