Seeking recommendations on Hanoverian (or approved) stallions

Annetta, given your requirements, I would look into Sandro Hit or a Sandro Hit son.

Mo Swanson has had very good luck with her Rotspon mare Rhussia crossed with Sandro Hit (licensed AHS stallion Somer Hit who is also been very high in the National Championships as a 4 and 5 year old http://www.horsetalk.co.nz/news/2011/06/137.shtml) and crossed with SH sons.

You could possibly preserve some of the jump too.

Well, if you need Proven, Totilas has been mentioned but isn’t proven yet (according to some) but I’d say that his sire would be… (I like his sire a lot… very nice horse).

What about Stedinger – he would certainly add height and his gaits are big and impressive. He has alot of depth and should be proven enough. I’ve always thought of him for breeding and would love to use him. The SH sons have not been mentioned, but certainly could match up well. Or, of course you could just use Sandro Hit since she has a good walk. Others that come to mind for her would be Furst Romancier - add the “R” line back in, but 3 generations back which is acceptable. If you aren’t concerned about getting a less than desirable head, Don Schufro would work. OR you could totally outcross and use Chequille Z. All would offer what you are seeking I believe.
Nice mare to work with – good luck!

Thanks for all of the recommendations… Keep them coming?

I just reviewed the 2011 WBFSH Sire Ranking for Dressage… Clearly the top 10 (or so) dominate head and shoulders above the rest (from a scoring perspective). I start looking at these dressage sires and then get side tracked by one of their sons that “may” be even better. And just when I get really excited about one, then find out that that particular stallion is not Hanoverian approved (but a son is…)

I am commited to trying 2 breedings for the mare with Embryo Transfers so that the mare can remain in performance training. I am likely to do one breeding to a consistent producer (WBFSH list) and one breeding to a more recently approved stallion. That way I can also try a couple of completely different lines. Isn’t breeding fun?

What would Farewell III bring to the table? Would you avoid the second line to Rosenkavalier on his damside? I have no breeding experience - just curious, looking to learn!

I think Fidertanz would be a knockout choice. He needs a mare with a good walk, which your mare has in spades. I think I read somewhere that he’s competing at PSG? Also think Totilas would be amazing, and Farewell III is interesting also. I like Fuerst Romancier himself, but haven’t been that impressed with his foals. They seem hit or miss. And he is HUGE.

For something outside the box, what about Christ or a Dutch stallion, like Ampere?
