Sempatico get/grandget

Hi guys,

I know Sempatico isn’t ‘the thing’ anymore, but I am curious to know what his get and grandkids did under saddle in the dressage ring. Also, what are their temperaments and brains like? I was around one years ago, a half arab. She was a sweetheart but I don’t remember much else.

TIA!

Bump, I will also put this in SHB forum. I thought the Dressage forum would also yield some information, though. TIA

I bred my mare to Sempatico back when he first came to the US. The filly I got was incredibly level headed, sweet, so easy going as a foal. I sold her after she was weaned. She wasn’t nearly as big as I was hoping for. Dam was 17 hands and half brother was 18 hands or more when full grown. Here is a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VV7CkHmXlgU

There is a farm local to me that used him & Art Deco heavily on their broodmare stock years ago.

My impressions of both were they made quiet horses, but prettier in color than in movement. I tended to like the Art Deco horses in type/movement more, but my roots are in eventing.

The mare seemed to really matter with Sempatico in terms of movement and body type. I saw many I would describe as heavy and coarse.

They have grandchildren of both now still in the program, it looks like their goal is an all around LL mount for average/amateur riders. They do not breed for approval in registries, so take that how you may.

My trainer has had 2 in her program. Both are Friesan crosses. The older one is solid black body with high white socks. The younger one is a pinto. Both are very athletic. The younger one has more knee action that I like but I come from hunterland and prefer the daisy cutter movement.
The older one was sold recently and is considered a GP prospect. Limited showing for both of them.

I’ve seen some really nice ones in the eventing world, one won the 3 star young riders competition last year.

Thanks so much for all of your feedback! It has been quite insightful. 🙂
