Senior horse board - Calgary, AB

Looking for some recommendations for a boarding situation for a senior horse in the Calgary area.

Horse is a 28 year old gelding. He either needs a paddock or stall where he will have twice-daily grain feedings & medication (one daily pill for Cushings). Free choice hay would be ideal. Some kind of barn area to bring him in and groom would be good, but it doesn’t need to have an arena.

Good care is most important - I’m not able to get out daily, so I want to trust that he is being well taken care of.

Are you open to closer to red deer or are you wanting something in Calgary?

If you are open to a bit further away, I’ve heard really good things about Waetcher Farm. Reasonable and whole range of board types.

No particular area of Calgary - somewhere S would be nice, but I live downtown, so there’s nowhere particularly close to where I live!

It has been a few years since I lived in Calgary but I think Trakehner Glen has a retirement boarding program.

We have a lady at my barn that has sent two of her injured horses (at different) time to Watcher horses to rehab! They each needed turnout for at least a year and it was so much cheaper than keeping them at our barn! Treatment was wonderful, so now that’s where we send all our rehabs and retirees!
