If the quote wasn’t already meaningful to you, then it seems weird to put it in your yearbook.
How about this: What do you hope the quote will say about you? What aspect of your personality or achievements do you want the quote to highlight? Or, complete this sentence: “When my old HS friends read this quote, many years from now, I hope that they will remember _______________ about me.” What’s a book or song that you really love?
Don’t sweat this too much-- once you graduate, the quote will be looked at maybe twice in your life. OK, maybe three times if you commit some crazy crime spree 15 years from now, and CNN shows a picture of your HS yearbook photo, and everyone says “Gosh, she seemed so NORMAL”. So rather than worry about finding the perfect quote to last for all eternity, just go with something that makes you smile now.
My yearbook quote was from the Lou Reed song: 'Hey babe, take a walk on the wild side." I was an honors student, hadn’t done much that anyone would consider wild, still haven’t, and I currently live in Iowa, the least wild place on earth. I guess I just really liked that song.
All that said, I like this one. It seems like great advice to give someone just graduating from HS and about to embark on crazy great adventures: “Half the failures in life result from pulling in one’s horse when it is leaping.”
