Has anyone used the seresto dog flea and tick collar on their horse? I had a vet tell me to put two together , and put it around their neck I live in a high tick area.
Curious to hear what responses you get. I’d think you’d need to put one on the neck and all four legs to get protection.
The tick repellent ingredient in the collars is licensed for horses in other countries and you can purchase it on eBay, iirc. Looked into it a couple years ago and considered adding to my flyspray…
I went with springtime garlic last year after two of my four horses came down with anaplasma in March and was really pleasantly surprised with how well it worked–zero ticks on anyone after I started it.
All mine have worn them for the past 2 years. Have been very effective keeping fleas and ticks off. Really like the convenience of putting on a collar and being done with treatments such as orals or topicals.
Your horses?
One on each leg? That’ll get expensive for me . . . 12 legs . . . hmm. I am curious about this, though, as I just started using them on my dogs this year. Tempting to slap one on every mammal these days, including myself, almost!
Oh goodness! When I saw Seresto, I automatically thought dogs! I better pay attention to the post next time!
They work extremely well for my dogs - just put new ones on this weekend as ticks are out now. At $50 a pop though I can’t imagine buying them for my horse!
