sesmoiditis - t(x) with OCD pellets?

Hi folks,

I have a young jumper that just came back after 8 months with the trainer diagnosed with sesmoiditis. Any track people familiar with OCD pellets? I’ve seen them advertised on the horse racing channels for use with bone related injuries. And, was wondering who out there has used the product and if it was successful at alievating the condition.

Thanks.

I used it on a horse with a sesamoid crack and it worked well…I am not sure you can base the effectiveness with just my experience.

We feed it to all of our babies. Does it help? Maybe. Does it hurt, nothing but our pocketbook. We have pin hooked 4 babies that had sesamoiditis in Nov, and did not have it the following sept.

We had one colt with a severe case that we treated with an aspirin and isoxsosuprine protocol.

We also treat our pin hooks with adequan

If you have any questions regarding the OCD Pellets, you can always contact Dr. Beebe. He is the veterinarian who formulated this product. His email is askdoc@docsproductsinc.com. There is also a lot of information on the website, www.ocdpellets.com.

DocsP - yes, I understand contacting the company is always an option. However, I was looking for information from product users for the condition the horse is experiencing.

Yes for OCD s it worked great…the best treatment for your problem is total and complete rest for a while not just 60 days…you really need to calm all the inflammation down and let the horse heal…If you do not it will become a chronic flair up issue…and yes I have had horses come in with it and once they had a lot of time off they got over it and moved on…The horses who got short term rest and then back to work became chronic and its a struggle…
