It sure is no small feat!!! He is feisty! and so tall…

What troopers everyone is. I don’t envy anyone, including the colt, having to put the splints off and on. Our filly last year tolerated wrapping quite well, and then booting, but fortunately we didn’t have to do the splints.

Prince was very good with bandaging and the other splints. It was easy because they could be applied while he was down. The new splints need to be put on while he is standing. I am sure it is not comfortable for him so I do not blame him for acting up. He is not even 2 months old and has never had the opportunity to be a normal foal. I think he is entitled to be a punk once in awhile.

Genevieve, you are so to be commended for all you are doing (have done) for this foal. He looks SO MUCH better and he clearly has so much zest for life. I’ll say again that he is really a nicely put together baby and you’re to be congratulated for that also in making the breeding decision you did. What a long road it’s been for you both … but I’m thinking it will be worth it in the end. He’s darling and you’re a gem and I send best wishes that he continues to improve.

I don’t blame him either! As I said, he is a trooper. So are you, for going the distance with him. Both of you have my best wishes.

OMG !!! I just found this thread by google searching information for a foal i have. if ANY of you are still around please contact me! I’m desperate and prepared to try anything at this stage. I am in Australia and having a LOT of trouble getting appropriate help. The photos of the foal in this thread look just like mine so im very keen to chat.

Talbra, if you don’t get any response here look up Warmblood Breeders Group on FB. I’ve seen several foal posts like this in the past few years, so I’m sure the folks are still there to ask questions of. Hope your foal is okay.

Perhaps start a new thread, as many people don’t read when a very old thread is resuscitated. Good luck!
