In your hunt’s first flight, what the typical ratio of males to females?

What about the ratio of over 21s to under 21s?

Over the past several years, it has been me (M) and how ever many women showed up that day. This year this is another guy hunting first flight on the weekends.

My previous hunt was the same except that the master was male.

On age, its usually all above 21. Sometimes on the weekends we’ll get some juniors out.

Based on one time only: about half men, half women, all well over 21. This was a weekday pre-season, so I imagine quite different on weekends.

Yeah, with Longacre, I an often the only male. We had another guy, but he got drafted into being a whip. The females are about 50/50 younger than 21. We have a 13 YO who has been riding in the first field since she was 8.

Some days there are only 2 men in the first field, some days up to 12. High holy days, better fixtures, and good weather all play a part.

Most all are over 21.

Today, Thursday hunt with Old Dominion. 8 men out (some ff, some ht), 12 women. Its usually about like that. More women certainly, but plenty of men.
A few juniors, some quite often, more on an occassional basis. Few later teens or college age. More over 30s and sub 15s than in between.

Generally it is two/three women to every male on our hunts no matter what the day or fixture.

We have a handful of juniors and in the over 21 crowd- seems like 1/3 are aged 21-40, 1/3 are 41-60 and the last third is 61 and older. Awesome group of horse owners who are a pleasure to ride with!

I thought this was gonna be another post about goings on after the hunt in the clubhouse.

Me, too. And after reading the ratios, it looks to me that, from a female point of view, foxhunting isn’t a good place to look for a date. Ah well, I guess that’s what feed stores, hardware (no pun indended) shops and TSC are made for.

Like that’s ever stopped them before.:lol::lol:

I like the direction this thread is taking!

With the shared sense of danger followed by alcohol, no telling what might happen after hunts, if it weren’t for the presence of those pesky husbands who tag along.

Let see, Our huntsman is female, most of our whips are female. Our field master is female. If my husband hunted I’d be a nervous wreck trying to get two paint horses ready. He actually has hunted but its been years. We do have a few guys that are regulars. Most of the guys we do have go first flight.

Yes please
