Shaft wraps

Where can I get replacement patent for my shafts I saw the name Claudette on a post who is she and how to contact her

Claudette Robinson - Country Carriages has a shaft wrap replacement kit, I think.

You can just buy vinyl or leather, too… Just sayin’.

Personally, I think I’m going to replace all of my black vinyl (again) on my meadowbrook with neon green! LOL! Why not?

DO IT!!!

ahem…I mean, uhh…whatever floats your boat?

I got my replacement shaft wraps from Witmers in PA

witmer Coach Shop
1070 Main St
New Holland PA 17557
717-656-3411

they are a parts supply store for all things carriage

when I had my roadcart rebuilt after a fire I had the shafts done with real leather
I hated it - they wore thru really fast and so for several years I had dangling shreds of leather til I finally motivated to take that off and replace

The leathers were put on with staples but I find the little upholstery tacks (steel) to be easier for me - IF you get a magnetized tack hammer
it picks up the tack and you can whack it in without holding it
When you need to hold the tack I use a needle nose plier

best of luck with the project

next I have to motivate to regrease and replace the wheel bearings some time!!!

I bought a cart from Claudette and ordered it with the wraps; patent leather I think. I would not want to try to put them on myself.

I got my shaft leathers from a harness shop. He sewed the one end and cut it sorta close the right size.

The ones I took off were sewn on. I sewed the replacements on. It was a pain & time consuming, but not technically challenging.
