Shakerag Hunter Pace/Trail Ride in GA

Has anyone gone before? It’s been on my bucket list for years, but I haven’t been yet. I am determined to go to this one on August 22.

Any idea of what to expect? My gelding goes both english and western. I have competed him locally in hunters and he does very well, but usually for trail rides I go western. I’m thinking I should bit the bullet and pull out the English saddle for this though. Especially if there will be some jumps. Do hunter paces have jumps?

Anyone else planning on going? Here’s the link: http://www.shakerag.com/modules/cjaycontent/index.php?id=19&path=Hunter%20Pace%2F&download=hunterpace.pdf

I haven’t done it, but have heard that it is great fun! Jumps are optional on hunter paces so you can go around them or over at your pleasure. Now I’m tempted to go, but it’s a looonnnggg drive for me.

Yeah, I think I’ll be tempted to do some of the jumps so I’m thinking english saddle so I don’t look like some crazy redneck jumping western

Debbie, road trip!?

I think we should!

Thank you for this post! I am going to see if we can go, it would be so much fun!

I wandered over here to see if there had perhaps been a thread posted. I will be attending and have never been to Shakerag’s event- but am so excited! Look for the girl on a fleabitten OTTB trying to look like she’s not getting run away with.

Ponykins threw a shoe and we can’t get the farrier out till Wednesday

Looks like I’ll miss it again.

I ended up bailing myself! 530 AM loading trailer that morning, my horse comes up head-bobbing and a huge lac on his fetlock. Ay ay ay, how do they know to time these things??

Too bad. Looks like a lot of fun…

What fun! Though the video was blurry much of the time I could still enough of the area to tell they were on beautiful trails. And I loved the commentary. top pi graph fi cal chan ges
