Shama'adan TB in UK - Wow!

Excuse me a second while I mop up my drool.
Shama’adan by Shamardal (Giant’s Causeway/Machiavellian) out of Trick (Shirley Heights/High Top).

Ok, now clearly the conformation picture on their website is photoshopped, but watch his video. Man, I wish they had some of him jumping.

I’ve been researching thoroughbred stallions, but haven’t quite seen this hunter, flat-kneed, sweepy movement.

I added his pedigree onto Sporthorse-database and Mill Reef in his pedigree really caught my eye. Of course, I know his sire line, but don’t exactly remember how they have translated into sport with their OTTB offspring. Viney, or other TB pedigree gurus, can you shed some light onto the rest of his pedigree, as a whole, for sport - leaning more towards hunters and jumpers?

Gorgeous mover! Love how he carries himself. I love a good TB, they still are great athletes and excellent for refining WBs.

The tail male lines have always been so good for racing that they have rarely crossed over into sport or chasing. This guy has a quite wonderful pedigree for jumping. There is a double to Never Bend through the excellent chasing lines of Mill Reef and Riverman. High Top is one of the very proven lines for sport horses. He’s the damsire of Lauries Crusador, and his son Top Ville is the grandsire of Marius, the Hong Kong eventing gold medallist and damsire of Stan The Man, sire of Sam, eventing gold at London. Hethersett was the sire of Blakeney, sire of Befalas and Julio Mariner, KWPN improvement sires. Shirley Heights is the damsire of Ghareeb, one of the best recent Irish event sires, and also damsire of Jan Greve’s Painter’s Row, who stands/stood for sport in several different countries.

Mariah’s Storm has a lovely pedigree for sport as well.

Helen Street is the dam of the US TB super sire, Street Cry.

Thanks Viney! That’s exactly the insight I was looking for! Now only if the stud would ship frozen!

oh dear, did they have to make him look like a breyer? i love his pedigree but that picture made me laugh!

Beowulf - when I saw his confo picture I almost passed by him and didn’t look at his pedigree until I saw his video with his lovely movement!
A bit extreme on the photoshop but that video is nice!

Forgot to add that there is a double to Wild Risk through two different sons, Vimy and Worden. Both have been well proved by many descendants in sport, and Wild Risk is one of my personal reference lines for sport TBs.

There is a great deal more good stuff both top and bottom. For instance Hardiemma has a pedigree with lines to both Blue Peter (Ladykiller’s grandsire and a proven h/j line here through Blue Murmur) and Umidwar, one of the most prevalent lines in the modern SF, as well as other WB registries–KWPN has Umidwar in a couple of their TB foundation sires.

Viney you are always a wealth if information, thank you!

I much prefer the other tb stallion Naasef he’s got http://www.stanleygrangestud.com/naasef.htm

4 lines Precipitation, 3 Abernant, 3 Princequillo, 6 Prince Rose, 16 Son in Law, 2 Bustino and 1 line to Busted, theres Mill Reef and Val de Loir / Vieux Manoir

Of topic but wasn’t Mariah’s Storm the inspiration for the movie Dreamer? That name is familiar to me for some reason.

He is lovely!

Is this the wrong pedigree, then, for Stan the Man? I don’t see Top Ville; I just see High Top’s sire, Derring-Do, as the sire’s damsire. If it is inaccurately listed here I hope someone will correct it.

Nope, that’s the right pedigree. I made a mistake. I had just been looking up Derring-Do for something else right before I posted and got confused.

High Top, however, is the sire of Miner’s Lamp, sire of Miner’s Frolic, a UK Team horse for eventing for many, many years.

Top Ville is the sire of Pistolet Bleu, who is the sire of a French Team event horse for the 2010 WEGs and the 2013 Europeans named Seculaire. He’s also the sire of Top of the World, sire of Danielle Dichting’s (USA) 3* event horse, Tops. Another son, Un Desperado, is the sire of young Tom McEwen’s 4* event horse Dry Old Party.

All the way back to Derring-Do the line is wonderful.

Also for further information, I did email Stanley Grange Stud as I was curious if there was frozen. He has gone back to his owners and they will not be standing him again in the future. The owner has never collected off him so there is no frozen semen available. Kinda a sad face, he would have been interesting to keep an eye on
