Shapewear for riding?

I have some kind of shapewear I bought on whim and I did wear it under white breeches to a couple of shows a few years back. I cannot imagine wearing it every day.

Thank you that is exactly what I’m looking for!

I have Shapemint ones with the legs and high waist that I compete in. They’re quite comfy and hide the belly quite well!

I don’t ride in mine every day though. They’re a pain to get down and back up when you’re hot and sweaty.

I will look into those. It would just be for events not for daily riding since I ride alone in my back yard

I tried showing in some Spanx shareware and it was just so weird feeling, I gave up.i was holding onto tension in my body when wearing it, and I couldn’t get past that tendency. JFYI.

If you have a discount store in your area you can normally find those pricey Spanx at a fraction of the cost. I like riding in Spanx because their seamlines, or lack thereof, and material are considerate if you suffer from the Iverness problem…

I wear this bodysuit: https://amzn.to/44QyI4I
It is great because it’s a bra, undies, and shape wear all in one. I honestly forget I have it on, it provides just enough smoothing and compression without strangling me.

what is the crotch like? snaps? (I cant imagine riding with snaps but I have seen “riding bodysuits” recently…)

The crotch fastens with the same type of hook and eye as a bra. I thought it might bother me, but it never has, even after a long day of eventing or fox hunting.

Very interested in this thread. I have a ridiculously short torso. EVERY high waisted panty I have tried rolls down. EVERY sports bra with a wide band rolls UP. (well, SheFIt doesnt but that metal piece in the back to adjust the band size fits RIGHT on my shoulder blade…) I dont need a lot of compression, dont have big girls…

ALL suggestions welcome!!

I also have a super short torso, and most shapewear rolls around on me. That’s what made me give the bodysuit a try and I will never look back!

I wear a tank top type shaper when I’m feeling “fluffier” (my midsection is also my problem area and I HATE photos when I’m petting my horse’s neck after a round!). It goes on over my bra and sits below my boobs and covers down to my hips. I can’t stand the idea of having to pull something up and down in the summer heat!

I have several different brands and they all seem roughly the same:

ETA - I have it on in my profile picture :joy:

I have a pair of capri-ish shapewear that Kerrits used to make. I like them because they stop at my knee, so they are pretty much hidden under my boots. I don’t see that they make them anymore. Bummer. I don’t like when everyday shapewear shows lines where they stop across the thigh. I wish I had more of these Kerrits and I wish they were not black. That doesn’t work for white breeches!

Does it stay down and tucked in? I like the idea, but am imagining it rolling up.

I don’t ride dressage, but Free Ride breeches are essentially shapewear. I love them, as do many of my barnmates, my trainer, and my BO’s sister. They come in knee patch and full seat. Before I discovered them, I tried shapewear base layers under a traditional breech and was VERY uncomfortable.

ETA: despite being “compressive”, I find them very comfortable. I am still in my breeches 2 hours after getting home and they feel like leggings. But they shape, and smooth out all the bits. I do know they are, or were, a bit long for super short folks. But for most everyone else seem to fit fine - whether you’re average height or an Amazon like me (over 5’10”).

The Maya Delorez breeches are quite compressive, also. They’re more compressive than the freeride.

For shapewear I actually really like the airism line by uniqlo. Affordable and super cool to wear, very fine mesh fabric and no harsh edges to show under clothes. They make a more firm waisted model if things tend to roll on you (https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E423104-000/00?colorDisplayCode=32&sizeDisplayCode=004)

and one that is more smooth over the hips if you don’t have the rolling problem: https://www.uniqlo.com/us/en/products/E423105-000/00?colorDisplayCode=35&sizeDisplayCode=004

I wear these a lot under dresses in the summer. They tend to last forever.

Nude color (for my skin tone) control top pantyhose from the drugstore! Cheap and soft.

It does stay rolled down and tucked in

Which style is like shapewear? I went to their website and was impressed with the variety. But it was impossible to find out which breeches were compression breeches.

I just sucked it up and bought a pair of Eques Pantes. I hope I love them.
