Sheepskin Saddle Cover

I was lucky to find a good sized piece of sheepskin. I want to modify it to use on a Bob Marshall Sport Saddle. Has anyone worked with sheepskin? What I am thinking is insert grommets into sheepskin and tie with leather strips to dee rings on saddle. Also, those who use them do you feel stable in the saddle or is there some wiggle? Appreciate any feedback you may have. Thanks!

you might want to look at a picture of the “Sit tight” suede cover made for the BMSS. It might give you ideas for shape and ties. I do not suggest using the D rings to tie a saddle cover to. In my experience I end up being irritated that now the Ds are harder to use for saddle bags and breastplate snaps/straps but also the D rings move because they are attached by a nylong strap themselves so they are somewhat “hinged”. The Sit Tight seat cover has strings on it, front and back. the strings tie around the two sides of the pommel and cantle and do not go thru the rings at all. roughout leather strings are used. There is also an elastic strap on each side that goes under the flaps. the elastic sits flat, no knots. the other cool thing about having a snug seat cover is you can put a trimmed piece of foam (with tapered edges) under the cover and create more twist for the rider’s comfort.
