Shipping a saddle - this can't be right!!

My local UPS store charges gobs of $$ to pack and to weigh. If you can go directly to UPS or measure and weigh at home and print out a UPS label, it is way cheaper. The mark-up is on packing and printing the label. That is how the UPS stores make their money.

I used to work for Beval and did most of the shipping. I actually just sold and shipped out one of my own saddles there last week.

With insurance and a signature it cost me $38. They have ‘saddle’ boxes that they ship in that aren’t bulky and pretty fair in measurements - then it’s just the weight.

*Edited to add that they use UPS.

I just bought a saddle and the shipping was something like $183. that was with insurance.

Thanks all. Bought the box (2 bucks) from Home Depot. Packed it. Went to post office. With insurance, 35 bucks. Phew

I just shipped a saddle from PA to Walsall, England USParcel Post for $112
