Shipping A Trailer

Has anyone ever shipped a horse trailer before and if so who did you use?

I’ll be moving from FL to the Midwest at the end of the month and really don’t want to sell my Brenderup. The issue is that my Subaru is on its last leg and I don’t trust it to successfully tow through TN. I would rent a car to tow it with but I need an SUV or mini van rental to transport the barn cats and dogs.

I’m hoping someone can recommend a company that they’ve had experience transporting either vehicles or trailers with before. The trailer is listed on UShip for quotes, I just haven’t received any hits yet.

Bummer on UShip, that would have been my recommendation.

I would call a local trailer dealer and ask who they use for delivery. They should have contacts for professional drivers who can pull the trailer to where you need it.

I used UShip to deliver my 1 horse Brenderup from Illinois to California after I sold it. No problems, great service and reasonable price.

several trailer manufactures are in that region below is a list of manufacturers with telephone numbers… you see one that is near where you are moving check to see if they have dealer somewhere near your current location… if there is a match call that manufacturer to see who they are using to ship trailers to that location… you might be able to connect with that shipper to do a back-haul load of your trailer

If you can’t find anyone, uhaul rents both pickup trucks and box trucks that can haul up to like 4-5000 lbs. I pulled my trailer from Seattle to Florida behind one.

I inquired with UHaul near me if I could rent a box truck with hitch to haul a horse trailer with a horse in it, and they said “absolutely not allowed”

call Enterprise they do rent trucks that you can use to tow (has to be 3/4 ton pickup or greater)

Strange. They allow car trailers and when I told them what I was hauling all they were concerned about was 1) I wouldn’t have animals inside it and 2) it had a braking system.
