What is the current going rate for horse shipping? Commercial or trainer transportation in New England?
The most reasonable one I have found in New England is $1/mile.
Due to the cost of trailering, I only ship local, 20 minutes down the street for lessons, and I have found the minimum price it $150 after contacting multiple shippers. I live on the South Shore of MA if that gives you an idea
Average is probably between 1 and 2 bucks a mile with a minimum for just hooking up the rig and driving it to pick up the horse. Cheaper then that, be suspicious of insurance, proper licenses and rig upkeep.
