I got the idea from someone on here but the shoo fly boots are awesome ice boots. They stay up on their own, you can pack in the ice, the water drains down, and you can keep adding ice from the top. Just wanted to share my win in case it helps anyone else.
Clever. And they’re not cavernous huge, requiring outrageous amount of ice, like some ice boots
I did this the last time I needed to ice my horse and it worked like a charm! I just filled them to the top and let the ice melt without adding more. It took about 20 min to melt away, perfect timing. My horse’s legs didn’t get that cold, so if you want more intense cooling you would probably want to add more over time. I was worried about it being too cold with the ice directly on her legs but that was not the case.
