Shopped at Horse Country in Warrenton for the first time

What a gem of a tack shop it is!! I am from PA and was in VA visiting family. The staff is so helpful and I just about lost myself sorting through all of the vintage hunt books. I wish we had such a place closer to home. I’m not a fox hunter, but follow the sport much like someone follows their favorite football team. I just love the history about it.

And, I almost walked off with their Scottish Terrier. I wonder if they would have noticed.

It’s awesome. I completely agree. Love the place!

It’s not a store, it’s a destination.

They’re having a huge sale soon. Including the 2nds store up the street.

I can’t wait.

Isn’t it wonderful?? I walk around it once, then twice because I know I missed something, then around again! Great shopping!

When I shop at tack shops, I find it best if DH is at home, at least 3 hours/3 counties away, with no access to the online banking account via his computer.

There’s a second store up the street? I didn’t know that. Well, I guess I’ll just have to go back

I totally fell in love with a pair of brown field boots they had, and also wanted to buy about 30 books. Do they have gift certificates? I could ask hubby for one as a Christmas present.

Oh yes please, do come back. Marion does offer gift certificates. My mother has given up trying to make a lady out of me and now just gives me gift certificates for Horse Country.

I got an email about the upcoming sale - here is some of the text from it.

Hound Show weekend (this weekend):

We, as always, look forward to Hound Show
weekend. Horse Country’s main store will
be open as usual and, just for your visit, we’re
putting two tents up outside with many things
40% off*. (May 27, 28 and 29, 2010)

Memorial Day weekend:

Plus, we’ll open our Leftovers store
Thursday, Friday and Saturday (May
27, 28 and 29, 2010) from 9:30 to 5.
Everything in that store is reduced
50% for clearance.** It’s our 40th
anniversary broom sweep of
Horse Country.
The 2nd store is up the street, it’s her Leftovers/2nds store. It’s a very small place but you can buy last years selection of hunt coats, canary vets, there are scarlet coats for sale, boots, stuff, more stuff, things, and whatnot.

Oh - and if you get there early here’s a sweet treat for customers:

So get up early and visit us before the heavy duty sightseeing begins. We’ll have coffee
and fresh croissants ready every morning at 9:00 (and other special treats from the two
new bakeries in town) and a special gift (with purchase) tee shirt designed just for you.
So, are we all going to meet for coffee and then go shopping?

Marion is the best ! Yeah !

and yes, if the Scotty were to go missing, they would notice. Immediately!!

Sorta like I would if you walked off with mine!

Ooo! Thanks for posting about the sale, I didn’t know!

when’s the sale?

The Scotties are Aga and Bunsen. For some reason, when I drive to Horse Country I almost always drive one of my old English cars. It just feels right. Rather like going into the store and having Aga trot up for a scratch and a cuddle. The place wouldn’t feel right without them.
