Short hair & hunt cap

Getting back to showing hunters. Last time I showed, my hair was down to my waist.

It is now short & very layered. Not quite pixie short, but not quite bob long. (Roughly emma thompson length).

Where is the line between just being able to plop on a helmet & needing a net? I can even figure out how a hairnet wouldn’t look ridiculous over hair this short…

I really liked the sock hairnets. It worked when I had really short hair like a bob and long extensions.
you don’t have to tie your hair, just pull it up and sucks all your hair into place, and I just pull some strands neatly over my ear under net so it looks pretty and plop helmet on.

the one knot hair nets are also fine, but I liked that I didn’t have to tie my hair with the sock no knot hairnet, and helmet will still fit nice and flat while holding in all baby hairs

I have very short hair–longish pixie type, with a bit that sticks out down the back of my neck a bit. I just don’t wear a hair net at this point. I do have some hair out the back of my helmet-- and I obviously cannot create the “over the ear” silliness of “hunter hair”, but I don’t care. As I am not riding the rated hunters, am not a junior in eq, the total “look” doesn’t matter (and quite honestly if everything you and your horse wear is neat, tidy and well-fitted the judge isn’t going to notice a bit of hair). That being said-- if a hair net can successfully pull all those bits up and in, do it! I plan to experiment with mine for when we are doing the rateds…or if we ever show again here…

I have a very short pixie but sometimes am cursed with erratic curls that stick out of the helmet. I usually just put a black bandana (black hair - I guess match it to yours) on, making sure the bangs and ear wisps are tucked in, then tuck the knot in the back of the helmet. I have a helmet that has those adjustable wheels - and it perfectly hides the bandana knot!

If you mean something like the Real Women Ride hairnets I would second this suggestion. They’ll lift up all your hair around the nap of your neck, no hair tie or bobby pins required for your length. They’re really great.

Yes exactly this one. I like this more than traditional ones because the other ones with knots I had to tie with my pony tail and then twist my hair Under my helmet—depending on the length could show a lot wit ugh short hair because it won’t hold the twist or be too bulky under helmet. This no knot hairnet allows hair to be all up but still flat to your head to not mess w helmet
