/the horse(s) you ride
5"2, 16 hands
5’3ish. Mine, owned or leased, have been 15.2 to 16.1. Medium build, refined types mostly except the tallest was leggy and thin with a coarser head.
ETA they were/are show Hunters.
5’3ish- I prefer 14.2 or under. I have ridden horses from 12.2 to 18.2 and the heighth of horse that fits me best is 14 to 15 hands.
5’2, my personal horse is a wide bodied 16.2 TB, with a low set neck. Doesn’t make for the easiest ride, but I’ve gotten used to it and figured out how to ride him.
I did routinely ride anything from small ponies to 18+hh monsters. I love ponies but when I get to horses I prefer bigger.
5’1" when I’m feeling tall. Nikki is 15.3 & change. I routinely ride horses and ponies of all sizes, but she’s my main ride.
5’2", two horses 16-16.1 hh, also a 13.3 hh pony.
My main ride was a 14.2 1/2 hh appy with a wider barrel. So long as we weren’t by a fence or other horses, I easily made him look at least a full hand taller!
Right around 16 hands is perfect for me. We look perfectly proportioned with the 16.3+ hh horses and 5’7" riders.
5’ 0" and 16 H thoroughbred
5’2 and large horses seem to find their way to me. TJ is 17.2 DC is 17.1. The last horse that I had that was under 17 hands was probably 10 years ago.
I’m about 5’2-5’3 and my horse is just over 15 hands.
5’4" and wide bodied 17.2 hands.
I’m 5’2 and current horse is 16h. Typically I feel more comfortable and capable on something that is 15.2-16.1h. And if its bigger has to be built more narrow and ride more like a smaller horse.
5’4", I ride a 14.1 pony.
5’4 1/2.
My boy King is 15.3/16 hands.
My mare Ruais is 14.3 soaking wet.
At my weight I look better on the bigger boy but I have back and knee issues, so as a trail rider, a shorter horse is making more sense for me.
5’3 ish, and my horse is a wide 16’2
5’3
Have a 15’3 1/2 wide bodied horse
A 16’0 1/2 hand narrow bodied warmblood
And have owned horses much larger than that.
5’3" and my horse is 16:1 and medium build.
I’m just under 5’5" and built fairly small, but I have long legs in proportion to my body- long thighs, in particular, so I look fine on bigger horses.
I’ve never owned anything under 16hh- my tallest was just getting past 17.2hh at five years old, and was ginormously built. He was actually a bit too big for me, but he was pretty short-coupled, extremely willing, and was just learning self-carriage when I lost him, so I didn’t feel overhorsed.
Currently I have a large, leggy 16.3hh TB and a very big-bodied 16 1/2hh WB.
I don’t really care how big they are as long as I can get them in front of my leg- I really dislike not having a solid neck/shoulders in front of me. I can ride ponies but I often feel like they are just going to disappear from beneath me unless they have a good neck.
5’4"; one is 16 and the other about 15.2.
I’m 5’3" and own a 17.1 hh ISH that I don’t feel to small for.
