We can hold a super bowl, and a post super bowl boat parade, but we can’t horse show?
Frankly, I didn’t think those were particularly wise ideas either. But I’m rather confident the NFL took a whole litany of precautions, whereas I’m not nearly as confident that Tommy Trainer from Generic Show Horses LTD did.
I think the point is rather that you should be doing none of the above
It just seems wacky that california literally prohibited people from being in the ocean by themselves, and walking on the beach, but allows a horse show with a thousand+ people to go on. Strange.
I’m not saying one is right or wrong, just that this seems hypocritical and wildly contradictory
Both are currently allowed. Though there was a period of time last spring when some counties did close beaches and adjacent bike paths
Right, and most of california is still on pretty significant restriction. So a large interstate horse show seems contradictory.
Agree that a horse show with people from everywhere may not be great, especially when the series started and things were more dire. Just wanted to clarify that things aren’t as restricted as they were last spring when horse shows were shut down by the state and USEF.
Interestingly, the NFL and CDC recently combined on a paper noting lessons learned from the season with Covid precautions - noting what worked and what didn’t.

Current travel recommendations
Californians should remain local (not traveling more than 120 miles from their home or other place of residence) and avoid non essential travel. Travelers from other states or countries entering into California for tourism and recreation are strongly discouraged.
