shoulder relief girth?

Has anyone used one? Yay or neigh?

I just bought the Total Saddle Fit dressage one. I like it so far. No complaints but I also don’t see a huge improvement in my horse either. The leather is soft on the side that touches the horse but the outside is a sturdier leather. The elastics don’t stretch much. My horse wears a 46" girth normally and the 24" fit her better for the dressage girth. I read horror stories of horses getting rubs and ending up bloody after wearing it so my first ride I walked her on foot and checked every couple of minutes, then I hopped on and had someone else check every couple of minutes, and then at the end I took it off and checked really thoroughly and didn’t find anything. I am considering buying one for my jump saddle too but I’m not sure if its worth the money yet.

It’s just an anatomical girth. I have several County Logic girths which I absolutely love, one Jaguar anatomical girth that I like, and one TSF girth which I really don’t care for. I think the leather is poorer quality than the other brands I have, the girth is much wider (presumably the idea is that it disperses pressure better?), and both the leather and the elastic are stiffer.

All in all it is perfectly fine, and it’s a much lower price point than many of the other anatomical girths on the market. It hasn’t ever rubbed any of my horses and they feel exactly the same in it as they do my more expensive girths. So if you order one expecting not “the best” quality, but wanting functionality, it serves its purpose well, IMO.

I love the County girths, and both my horses like them- they are my favorite sort of normal anatomic girth. The TSF made my extremely mellow jumper into a crabby bastard so I sold it.

I also use the Mikmar Comfort girth, which he likes a lot, but it’s a little hard to keep the middle pad clean and not stinky so it’s not a great daily girth. Instead, I just started using a Tapestry Comfort girth- it’s (relatively) inexpensive and to my surprise, even the girthiest horses seem to like it. I have a feeling the elastic will stretch out at some point, but I’ve been using it for the last couple of months and everyone I’ve tried it on has gone well in it.

so would you recommend County over Jaguar

Yes. The leather on the Jaguar girth is nowhere near as nice as the County. Also, the elastics are crisscrossed, which I suppose is nice in theory, but since I like to put my back elastic through the girth loop of my saddle pads (but not the front one), I’m not a huge fan. It’s on a par with the TSF girth, though it’s a normal width girth (which is why I like it more). But again, the the Jaguar was so much less expensive than my Counties, and I think that’s why I ended up with it (I’ve had it for 12+ years, so I don’t remember why I bought it in the first place!).

The County girths are super nice, very comfortable for the horse, and wear beautifully under hard use.

.

I love my CWD anatomical girths (so much that I have 3 of them!) I also like my Peter Wylde one as well, however- they are no longer being made.

I did not like the Total Saddle Fit girth, it was far too wide and the leather quality was not great.

I have two of the CWD ones and I love it!
