In need of a new show coat. Have had the same one for EVER but it is time for a new one. Would be interested in trying a soft shell one but am not sure if im ready to give up the classic look of shoulder pads, three buttons, and flap pockets. Anyone know of any coats that might work? Thanks so much!!
I tried on the RJ Classic’s Monterray coat at Devon which doesn’t have shoulder pads (I have wide shoulders, most shoulder pads tend to make me look like a linebacker lol) and I loved it. It comes in classic colors and is a really nice jacket for any ring. I especially loved the Marine Green
I have both a black and brown RJ Monterrey. The black is several years old and holding up really well. They do run big.
Another vote for the Monterey. I have several in various colors. They are flattering and wash well.
What’s your budget? I LOVE my Horse Pilot coats. Love them more than any of the other 20-odd show coats I own. I’ve ordered a couple of custom ones from here: https://custom.mon-cheval.com/configurator-show-coat-Horse-Pilot-customize-59-p.htm
I find them much more flattering than any other coat I’ve worn through the years. They’re a slightly thicker fabric (and feel nicely structured as a result), but aren’t hot at all. Cost of a custom coat is somewhere in the $400 range online.
On a cheaper budget, I actually quite like my Horseware show coats that come in around $100.
I LOVE the mesh style! They are so freeing. It’s like you aren’t wearing a coat at all. It is also TONS cooler in the summer. From a short distance they look solid. My favorite one is by RJ Classics. Since I bought mine, I never wear my other coats.
