Peacock is easy to subscribe to and then cancel if you don’t use it for anything else. It’s not a contract it’s month to month. Unless they change it for the Olympics
I also love watching gymnastics so it will be money well spent
They also have coverage on other NBC affiliated channels. USA, E! channel, NBC, Peacock. However, my cable subscription included a free use of Peacock, and some cell phone companies might do that too. I’m sure gymnastics will be heavily featured on the NBC primetime line up.
Peacock isn’t on Amazon Prime, but there’s a deal through Mastercard for $2.99 a month. The Peacock with ads is 5.99 a month, and 11.99 without ads. Xfinity (Comcast) offers Peacock free if you have their service. Spectrum offers a free year too.
I signed up for a month, but I accidentally signed up a month early. I might up it to commercial free for one month and then cancel. The only thing I don’t like about streaming is that I cannot record the event.
If it’s similar to the Barcelona coverage when you could get the Red, White, and Blue channels via your cable company, it will be worth it even for the marquee sports that will be shown on regular NBC. No commercials. And less rah rah let’s go USA and ignore the other athletes.
The best Olympic coverage I ever saw was from Mexico. I lived near El Paso from 1986 to 1996, and I was sick of the added commentary and the stories on the U.S. networks that didn’t interest me. So, my cable company had a Juarez channel that was all in Spanish, but really showed the competition, with no extra background stories. I saw so much of the actual events, without the extra stuff that didn’t interest me.
I LOVED that! My cable didn’t get it, so I had to put it on my parents cable. And I moved over there for a week. It was fabulous!
Another thing to note with the Peacock subscription: when you go to cancel, they automatically offer you a $1/month deal for 6 months, even if you just subscribed—which I just discovered because I started a subscription and then found out my husband already had one! But a good deal for anyone who wants to get Peacock just for the Olympics! Not worth it to get the premium no-ads subscription by the way—sports and special events still have ads because of the special contracts involved.
