Show Jumping!

I’m broke up here, I’m bummed for McLain for just missing out on a medal but I am soooooo ecstatic to see a woman at the top!

Any link to live scoring? Thanks

Congrats Simone. What a brilliant competition. Bummed for McLain, but WELL DONE!

Okay, time for football. Had fun, all!

Alice and Simone were awesome from the beginning, they deserved to win. I wish NBC would stop saying she is the first woman to win individual gold at WEG though. Lots of people may not realize that the World Championships were around long before WEG and that Gail Greenough won the individual title long ago, probably early to mid 70s? I’m too lazy to look it up.

Yes, very disappointed for McLain, but so proud of our team gold and all the brilliant performances. These horses are so incredibly talented and game, true freaks of nature.

Lovely riding and wonderful partnerships, beautiful to watch

Big congratulations to Nicole and her wonderful mare, go chestnut mares!, SO many in the top 12, and a woman on the top of the podium for the first time. Girl Power

On to football, where I am in a win-win and a lose-lose situation: my beloved Pack is playing my home team Redskins.

So very conflicted…either way, I will be both happy and sad! sigh Oy.

It was thrilling to watch the jumping, and I’m grateful that we got to see it all! Everyone really brought their A game, and it’s clear that – as someone else posted – our “program” is working – both for dressage and Show Jumping. Eventing? (my sport), that’s another story, unfortunately.

Weird question, but has anyone ever done a study on what color the top horses are? So many greys this time around! is that due to a particularly influential stallion?

I think Clinton was pretty well represented. But most of the top horses no matter what registry are largely Holsteiner blood and there are a lot of greys in the Holsteiner books.

Why did Pedro Veniss and Quabri de l’Isle retire in the first round today? NBC only showed highlights of the first round, so didn’t see him. Hope all is ok. That horse is gorgeous - they all are incredible but he really caught my eye this week.

yes, as Susan said, lots of Clinton. From Team Nijhof yesterday:

Tryon WEG 2018 Clinton-power in top 30:
Two offspring of Conquistador (v. Clinton x Heartbreaker) made it to the top 30 already; Oakwood Redwood - Billy Raymont, and Yandoo Oaks Constellation - Jamie Kermond, as well as Clooney (v. Cornet Obolenksy) (v. Clinton x Heartbreaker), Clinta (v. Clinton x Lord Pezi) , Cristalline (v. Cristallo v. Cornet Obolensky). Congratulations to all and especially to Chris Chugg!

If you want to email NBC to let them know there were actually people watching WEG:

Thanks for the explanation, as well as the breeding on these guys! Lots to research on my end.

He had a couple of early rails and his horse seemed to be tired so he retired rather than pushing his horse.

:applause: I applaud him for that.

Me too! The heat was just brutal all week. The horses were super fit and still feeling the effects.
