Well, as a former world champion in 3 day, winner of Badminton 6 times, and winner of Burghley as well, she is certainly qualified for international circuit. She has also ridden in several Olympics. I do wish she would let John speak more. He is really good at this.

Itā€™s your typical play-by-play/colour commentator setup.

Lucinda Green is the woman commentator. The NBC Olympics/NBC Sports online streaming, accessed through your cable log-in, will have Lucinda Green, and John Kyle . The NBC Sports, and NBC TV feeds have Melanie Smith Taylor and Randy Moss( ?).

I just watched the delayed broadcast of the qualifying round (that played from about 2 to 4 (maybe starting earlier) this afternoon on Eastern time on NBC Sports. Having already read your comment about Quel Homme de Hus meant I paid more attention to him. Thank you! I agree ā€“ impressive.

Plus his back story, and the connection between his rider and owners as friends, are also heart warming. Itā€™s a reminder of the patience that is needed to allow great horses to reach their full potential! https://www.worldofshowjumping.com/WoSJ-Exclusive-interviews/Quel-Homme-de-Hus-a-story-about-friendship.html

Does anyone remember Jus de Pommes, the stallion who won double gold at the Atlanta Olympics? (Sadly, he died suddenly of colic just a few weeks after the Olympics). I always wished Iā€™d followed up on finding his bloodlines. So go for it, Cancara and tohorse!

Has she done much commentary? It just seemed as if they did not really have the rhythm down of one person speaking, then the other person speaking, so it seemed like they talked over each other a bit too much of the time.

I did watch the TV highlights later with Melanie, and it was interesting to hear the different points of view and different pieces of information on the same rounds.

What a shame the US had such a poor competition. Possibly time for a new chef dā€™equipe? Time to bring back certain trainers that truly know the Olympics!

Thatā€™s kind of harsh when no one had more than eight faults donā€™t you think? With the individual going first Iā€™m not too disappointed that these horses arent jumping another round. Those teams that qualified all three riders, how many clear rounds can those horses possibly jump? With no drop score, do you make the hard choice to sit somebody with an individual medal on the bench for the team because theyā€™ve done too well and done too much? Thatā€™s a really hard call.

When you have a team with all of the riders in the top 25 of the world, Iā€™d say Robert put together a great team. Anyone can have an unlucky rail anytime.

Heā€™s understandably the top 1 SJ stallion. Straws with his material are sold out in Europe (last ones were even bought back by Schockemƶhle). Breeders have to go Opu&Icsi way to get his precious materialā€¦

Yeah this new format is not great. Havenā€™t had a chance to watch yet but it seems like there wasnā€™t even a time allowed for the round today? So no time faults to separate anyone out either.

There was a time allowed and some riders did have time faults.

There was a time allowed, although for some reason it did not seem to be on the posted course that was available online. The time faults separated the last few that made it into the individual final.

Props to the course designer. The plan was to have 30 advance to the individual final round, and exactly 30 horses jumped around without having a rail down.

Lucinda just canā€™t get over the sumo wrestler statue.

I have to say it is a little surprising to see by a jump.

Has anyone found the course for Wednesday?

Order of go for the individual final at 6 AM Eastern on Wednesday, 8/4.

Ahh got it. Yeah I saw the posted course and missed the 1 and 2 faulters scrolling through the results. Still not a big fan of the format though.

I donā€™t think anyone is.

Catching up on the rides Iā€™ve missed.

Yikes! The Syrian rider took a hard fall. I hope theyā€™ll keep an eye on him for concussion. He hit his head on the horse and on the ground.

why do so many not braid?

Braiding seems to have fallen out of fashion with more and more jumper riders. I think it looks nice but I can understand why some riders want the option of grabbing mane, or want to avoid anything that could be even the slightest bit uncomfortable for the horse.
