Show Jumping

I can barely look…

Wow. Just wow.

Explosion had those soft floppy relaxed ears. Thrilled that he won.
I find myself cheering for the horses that seem to be enjoying it the most, regardless of Nationality.

GB and the Japanese horse were my favourites in the jump off.

Malin’s horse looked frantic

but hey, what do I know?

granted, I don’t watch a ton of SJ, but I have never seen a jump off when not a singe rail fell.

The Brits have had a fantastic Games in Equestrian! Congrats to them and hope they can do the same in the Team Jumping competition.

Where did you find the live stream with Melanie? I did not know there were multiple options.

I don’t know if it is part of the new format for these games, but I think that’s the first time I’ve ever seen a jump off where they came back in a different order than the qualifying round. For this, they came back in reverse order of their times for the first round. So the person who was fastest and clear in the first round was the last to go in the jump off. Interesting.

And this is the second time in a row that the Olympic individual gold medalist got back on his horse after the medal ceremony using a ladder in the ring. Nick Skelton did the same thing in Rio. Love it!

I don’t know if he would have been able to get on without one! But that was the calmest mount ive ever seen. So nice on the horses back

I may have found the NBCSN live stream instead. When I went to stream.nbcolympics.com, it was in their featured streams, so I clicked it. It was not what I wanted lol

I watched it on NBCSP Dish #159.

Ben underwent serious back surgery in 2020 after suffering with pain for many years.
Nick also had physical problems. ( He broke his C1 vertebra in two places and snapped a ligament which tore away a piece of his spine in a fall at a show in Cheshire. He had to spend months in a metal neck brace as a result and was advised by surgeons to give up riding or risk a fatal injury.)

Ben;
“I’d had a couple of bad falls and in the end it catches up with you,” he said. “Riding wasn’t at all comfortable, but it was the best place to be. Through the European Championships in 2019, I struggled with simple things like putting my boots on and walking the course. You get tired of fighting that all the time. Now, I feel like a new person.”

No surprise why they were both bawling like babies.

Any info yet on why the NZL rider was eliminated?

Is it a new thing? I don’t remember seeing that happen until today.

Oh, I wish I had known about that option! My tv is much more reliable than my WiFi.

Were they constantly showing ads on the live stream for everyone? Super, super, super annoying.

Yesterday I just had to watch an ad every time I had to refresh the page, but today they kept showing me random ads between horses, so I would miss part of the next horse’s trip.

this was the first day they showed the horses live on tv. SJ is easier to follow. Yesterday, I didn’t notice any commercials thru the hours and hours of coverage. But today!!!

Ok watching the replay and I have a bit of a silly question. Does anyone know what the little pop-up is for that has the jump number and counts alongside green, yellow, and red circles? I assume it’s some way of keeping track of how many people have had that fence down but then I can’t for the life of me figure out what the yellow dot would mean.

Side note, I like the commentary a lot better today. More balanced between John and Lucinda which is nice.

Ditto on both counts.

Was the little pop-up bar there the whole time when it was live? I only noticed it briefly early on for one or two horses.

And I did think the commentary was more balanced today. Maybe they read my comment on here about it from yesterday. Lol.

The only time I saw ads on the live stream yesterday was when I had to refresh the page, or when there was a drag break. Completely different experience today!
