Is he a GRP? Mine at the top of the thread is a GRP also and man I love this breed so much!
He’s actually an oversized Welsh pony, technically a Dutch Riding Pony. The mare I had before him was a GRP and she was amazing. We have two GRPs in our barn right now and I love them. One’s schooling GP and the other is green hunter reject schooling second/third. Once this one retires/tops out, I’ll probably try to find another GRP.
WOW! This one takes the “Dapple Cake”… I love the last two photos.
Here is Holden. He always has dapples but it turns out I am terrible at photographing them:
I can’t say I’ve ever seen it before either. The first time was when I brought a new donkey home and his little brain exploded. I think it’s a circulation thing related to the sympathetic nervous system firing up?
And thank you but the withers are actually not bad when he’s not amped up and standing like a weirdo!
(No dapples there though sadly.)
He looks like a different but equally gorgeous horse!
Here are some 5 year old winter dapples:
He’s new to the barn, so I’m looking forward to seeing his summer coat.
I found the pictures of horse #1 whose butt you see in the first photo. Here he was when he first graced my life 13 years ago.
Summer dapples:
Winter dapples:
Yes, she’s an easy keeper. But she’s also pregnant (7 months in the winter photo), so not quite as overweight as it appears at first glance!
Enjoy those grey horse dapples! My boy’s are gone. He is now completely flea bitten white.
Stunning horse dapples everyone !!
And @Bristol_Bay job well done with your gorgeous horse!
Mine went from almost black to gunmetal dapple when we clipped him mid Oct . He’s now mostly dark bay again.
All these pictures are making me desperately wish that my lighter bay boy had some dapples, I love them!
