Show Me Them Dapples

Dapples make me smile. All the time. Clipped the redhead today and so many were hiding underneath! Anyone else’s looking rather dappled this year?

No fair!
You have Lola aka Peepycat & now a gorgeously-dappled mare.
While my 3 - here in the Midwest - are in various stages of yakdom :sob:

I swear these chromed out animals find me and I happily take them in :joy: Walter has a very kissable nose!

With a sooty buckskin, it’s like you get different dappley all year round!

Summer dapples

She has dapples now, but they are harder to see and photograph because her winter coat is darker.

Thanks, his nose gets smooched a lot… to his disdain

That first picture is adorable!

Here are my two at various stages of dapple:

He’s a Dutch WB. This picture was taken before I bought him and started treating his insulin resistance and low thyroid. He was so fat!

This is him now.

So this isn’t the most flattering picture but one of my horses gets anxiety dapples! We were doing groundwork last week when a neighbor’s horse got turned out alone and was running around screaming for a friend. Naturally this set mine off and in the blink of an eye he went from second-clip mousy drab to dappled in a giraffe pattern:

When he calmed down, he faded back to a solid mousy color in 5-10 min. It’s very interesting and dramatic!

I’ve never heard of that happening! How interesting.

PS—I feel for you regarding those withers! Beautiful boy!

Honestly I saw the first picture and thought dang that is a good looking horse but holy cow I wouldn’t expect Bristol Bay to have such a chunka. What a lovely after picture!

May I hijack?
Friend gave me this horse in 2015. He lived outside with her others, run-in for shelter.
IMHO, they fed too much hay to horses living on nice pasture. He was a sausage.

We call her Fleuropotamus… my mare while on stall rest.

Back in shape. Sire is a chocolate palomino (Osilvis) so she gets lovely golden dapples.

I don’t know how he came out this color. His mother is one of those dark bays that almost look black and his father is black. I hate that he loses those dapples in the winter and turns dark bay (but not quite as dark as his mother).

Omg the second picture  I want one!

Everyone has such lovely ponies! My two have dapples at different times - the bay would have them now if I clipped her and the (flea bitten) grey gets them late winter/ early spring around when she sheds out. Of course, I don’t have a picture of either :woman_facepalming:

My pony gets super dappled every summer. I’m always sad when his winter coat grows in and he turns dark brown for the winter.
