Show Me Your Devon Pictures!

With Devon about to start, I’d love to see everyone’s Devon pics–old, new, and everything in between.

My sister and I showed Large Ponies at Devon for several years in the late 1960s.

This one is one of my favorite pictures ever, not just from Devon. My godfather Dave Kelley is right on the rail clucking for me.

And a candid from a few years earlier, on Claridges.

It looks like you had a whole support crew or at least everyone’s attention

I’ve never been to Devon, but visiting is on the bucket list for “one day.” I’m going to love this thread.

Devon 2016 in the amateur owners. My first (and only) time showing there. My trips weren’t perfect but I was just happy to be there!

Devon 1994 in the Locals. I believe it was still 3’6” then. We were fourth in one class with me riding. A pro, Rachel Kennedy, rode him in the Stake and the Fox Hunter Field Performance class, where he was 1st and 4th. He ended up winning the trophy for high score in the Stake! Merchant of Venice (Lorenzo),

Ok so this feels like cheating since my pics are from Hunt Teams and not from Qualifying for some elite division. (Real jobs in PA don’t work well with winter circuits in Florida!)

2016 - “Gin Joint” - Team finished 7th

2019 - “El Cuador” Team finished 3rd (I’m on “Cudo” my dark bay)

Definitely not cheating! Your horses and the hunt team synchrony over the fences are gorgeous.

If often watch the pony hunt teams and those kids are all over the place.

I have that video.

From the “Paul Harvey - Rest of the Story” moment…

This was Saturday. On Friday night we had taken Cudo down to Great Meadow in The Plains, VA for our first 1.30m class at Twilight Jumpers under the lights. We finished with 1 time fault as the top female rider and 2nd highest amateur out of 25+ in the class.

That round is here:

We got home at 1am Cudo got chucked out for the night. Everyone went to sleep and by 12pm I was washing his highness and braiding as the class started around 7pm. Got to Devon by 5:30. Tail braid added at trailer then. We were the 3rd team to go and I did 2 warm up fences. That’s all he needed.

He was foot perfect at Devon over the “reported” height of 3’ of this class. LOL. Imagine that, only 15" smaller fences. Ha ha ha.

Your videos are amazing! I love the huge round of applause for the hunt team.

That really was a thrill. And Cudo ate it up.

Now waiting through another 15 teams or so, that wasn’t as fun. But we did ok.
