My barn is going to have stalls attached to an overhang area which will serve as a run in shed. Mostly the horses will use the shed for shelter. I need inspiration for ways to use gates or round pen panels to be able to have individual runs when using the stalls, then open up the area when using it as a run in shed. I can’t rely on my mare letting one of the boys into the shed, so I will have some separation all the time. The width is 48 ft; might do two 24 ft width areas or two 12 ft areas and a 24 ft area.
no photos but all of our paddocks are interconnected with gates that allow sorting of the horses/goats from pen to pen
I thought I’d bump this up after seeing the creative ideas for the New Farm thread. Maybe I can even use the idea presented there.
If I’m understanding correctly, it sounds like maybe one thing to do is to use a wide gate, with wheels on both ends, to separate the individual runs, and then wheel them back out of the way (like a pocket door, if not in a big arc back against fixed fencing) when you want to open up the area?
