Show me your yearlings!

2foals- She looks so mature! How old was she in that pic? An early baby I would imagine since she’s a TB?[/QUOTE]

Yes, she was an early one :). I think she’s 18 months in the photo. But the thoroughbreds seem to develop more quickly anyway I think.

I completely relate to what you say about babies growing and going through phases so quickly. This filly had a much more babyish look just a month or so before the pictures.

BTW your chestnut Contucci filly is lovely, I adore chestnut mares :).

Here is my yearling filly Karissa Herself: http://www.herselffarm.com/images/Karat2.croppedJPG.JPG

She is by Legaczy (Alla Czar) out of Jr’s Freedom (TB)

Nice, sporthorsefilly!

Here is our 2010 Oldenburg gelding Horizon. We have recently sold him and it can be very tough to spiff those yearlings up for videos and photos!

Sire: Harvard (Hohenstein x Hauptstutbuch Carina (Cardinal xx))
Dam: MMB Mystere (Mattgold x St.Pr. Laura B (Lauries Crusador xx))

The interesting thing about him was that at his foal inspection he was in a very odd looking, gangly stage and did not make premium based on his wobbly, butt high conformation. As a yearling, once his front end somewhat caught up to his hind legs - he sold very easily. His other 2 full siblings were premium’s and looked beautiful as foals… go figure!

Thanks Erin

More Legaczy yearlings

There are two more Legaczy yearlings about half way down on this page (Lanczalot and Karrera):

Trotting in hand

I love yearlings. It is actually my favorite age. They are no longer “babies”, but you can see so much of what they are going to become. It’s always an exciting age for me.

I’m in love with my yearling colt. A friend just finished putting together a video of him today from footage we took in September. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTVqEDk3rN4

His name is *Mynach Master Class. He is a Section B Welsh Pony colt. I think he will mature somewhere in the 13 to 13.2 hand range.

It’s so nice to see all the other croup-high babies out there. My boy is a Section D and I am so in love with him! Smart, hard-working, gorgeous and you should see him move, despite running downhill right now. Here is a head shot at a slightly less awkward stage from his current 16 months.

Really pleased with our filly, she is just on one year old now. She is pure Saddlebred, we breed for dressage.
