Show Names Help

I have a gelding that needs a show name. He is a bay. OTTB. He is the SWEETEST horse ever. He is a puppy dog. He is very calm and gentle. I like more sophisticated names but open to whatever. He is a cool horse because he is quiet on the ground but has so much drive and power under saddle. He jumps a 10. If anyone has any ideas please share! His race name is “the phenomenon” which I don’t think fits him much LOL he is too sweet and derpy for that.

How about a car-ish name?

Lexus
Cruise
Accelerator

I would vote to keep his JC name - I have heard of racing connections finding horses later on that they never would have if the name was changed. Plus - his JC name is WAY better than most!

Change it to Phenomenal. The announcer would then say, “And next up is theeqgirl riding Phenomenal.”

I always thought I would name a bay horse after a nearby coastal bay (Casco Bay, Quincy Bay, Hudson Bay, etc). Any coastal area near you or one you want to visit?

I would look up his lineage and see if his sire or dam’s names inspire you.

That was my first thought too. Darn, that is a great JC name.

The Phenomenon is such a cool name!!!

FWIW, my OTTB is also sweet and derpy (and has a pink nose to boot), but the show name I picked for him doesn’t match, and his JC name was pretty bad. Truthfully, his barn name doesn’t match his personality, either, but I still liked it so I kept it. I mostly refer to him when I talk to him by a silly pet name or “Sweet Boy” - his show and barn names are just what I use in conversation with other people haha.

At the end of the day, pick something YOU like - your horse doesn’t understand the meaning of his name; he simply recognizes the sound pattern of it when you say it.

Switching Gears. He went from the track to the show ring. If he needs a barn name, you can call him Geary or Gary <3

He has a name. Use his registered name.

Count me among those who would use his JC name. It’s great, and could possibly help him in the future.

Plus, it’s a kindness to his breeders, who put their heart and soul into your horse before he found his way to you.

I like his registered name. Or if you want it shortened, Phenom sounds cool.

How old is he? Or do you have his tattoo? Trying to look him up for my own inspiration.
