Show outfit help please!

I’m showing my Spicy Meatball at the county fair. Not a huge deal in the area but I still want to look nice. I’m showing him in hand and I have black boots and pants and someone is lending me a light beige hat. Is black and beige ok?

I’m not sure what to wear on top. I’m not going to buy a real showmanship jacket because they’re super expensive and I can’t find anyone to lend me one. I’m willing to buy a western show top in the under $100 range, but what color?

Meatball is a bright chestnut with white, I’m pretty sure that matters in western!

Thanks!!!

Look at hobby horse inc., they have a color chart for horses and what colors go best and examples of outfits.

I love teal with chestnuts, and it should look great with the black pants and tan hat, so that’s my vote. Royal blue would be another good option. For a county fair show, I think a crisp button-down shirt is acceptable for showmanship (I show in one I got for $20 at JC Penney). A nice belt buckle would be a good addition to that look as well.

Generally, I would do a black hat with black pants, but since you are borrowing equipment for a county fair, it will be fine.

If you choose a different color top (other than black) yes you can wear a beige hat.

My hat is more of an off-white but I’ve worn it with a white shirt / black pants.

If you don’t want to go with a SMS shirt, you can usually find nice blazers typically pretty inexpensive at Value Village or Goodwill. My favorite I wore for years I paid a whopping $7 for. New with tags still on.
